On February 16, the expert appraisal meeting for high performance membrane project was held by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The sub-topic of “Development and Application of High Performance PVDF Materials in Urban Waste Water Treatment”, led by Sinochem Lantian, successfully passed the assessment. This sub-topic is one of the major high performance membrane programs in the new materials area listed in the National 863 Program in the Twelfth Five-year Plan.
This sub-topic, led by Sinochem Lantian, is one of four topics of high performance membrane program for the research of water treatment, and its implementation period is from January, 2012 to December, 2014. The successful implementation of this sub-topic will decrease cost and increase efficiency in the area of urban waste water treatment and reuse so as to make contributions to China’s water shortage, water pollution, etc.
This sub-topic is led by Sinochem Lantian and co-worked by Tsinghua University, Beijing Scino Membrane Technology Co., Ltd., and Sichuan Engineering Research Centre for Water Treatment and Reuse, and its purpose is to develop environmentally-friendly membrane manufacturing process with proprietary intellectual property rights and realize industrialization so as to increase international competitiveness of domestic membrane. Upon completion, the program will establish an industrial base of hollow fiber membrane products with an annual production capacity of 2 million square meters and develop high performance PVDF resin for coating with the method of Thermally Induced Phase Separation (TIPS), among which Sinochem Lantian will complete pilot scale test of 300 t/a resin for water treatment.
